How to get FREE Global Entry or TSA Precheck

What’s the difference between TSA PreCheck and Global Entry?

✅ TSA PreCheck

This program is run by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and is focused on departing flights from U.S. airports. It gives you access to expedited security screening lanes — fewer removals of shoes/belts/laptops, and generally shorter wait times.

🌍 Global Entry

This one is run by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). It speeds up your entry back into the U.S. after international travel (via kiosks and expedited lanes). The big plus: Global Entry includes TSA PreCheck benefits too.

How to use the benefit — and what to watch out for

Here are tips to make sure you get the most out of the benefit:

1. Pay the fee with the eligible card. If you use a different card, you might not trigger the statement credit.

2. Check frequency. Many cards allow the benefit “once every 4 years” or “once per membership term.” Align this with your travel schedule.

3. Choose Global Entry if possible. If your card covers it (and you qualify), go for Global Entry — you get both that and TSA PreCheck.

4. Complete the enrollment. Paying the fee is only part of it. You still need to apply, be approved, attend any required interview, and get your Known Traveler Number (KTN).

5. Enter your KTN when booking flights. For the TSA PreCheck benefit to show up on your boarding pass (or for Global Entry’s KTN to apply), you want your flights to reflect it.

6. Watch your renewal timeline. Since membership is typically ~5 years, and the reimbursement happens every ~4-5 years, keep track so you don’t lose it.
