Business Cards- Think You Don’t Qualify? Think Again.

A lot of people assume they can’t open business credit cards because they’re not self-employed, don’t have an LLC, or don’t run a “real” business. But here’s the truth: if you’ve got a side hustle of any kind, banks often see you as a sole proprietor—and that means you may qualify.
Here are a few super common examples of side hustles that can get you approved:
Selling on Facebook Marketplace or eBay (this is actually how my husband and I got our very first business cards when we started this hobby!)
Babysitting, housesitting, or dog walking
Driving for UberEats, DoorDash, or Instacart
Managing rental properties
How to handle the application
When you’re filling out your application, honesty is always the way to go. For the revenue question, I usually make a reasonable estimate of what I expect to earn in the upcoming year. Don’t forget—your other income (like your W-2 salary) also gets factored in, which helps strengthen your application.
Final Thoughts
You don’t need a big business to unlock the perks of business credit cards. A small side hustle could be your ticket to even more points, miles, and free travel.
